Lena Vasilieva.
I had a little break with my posts (countryside and my friends turned out to be more attractive to me than fashion world and blogging) but anyway I want to tell about all my impressions that I got on AFW.
The third day of AFW was a working day for me as well but it wasn’t hard at all, so it was more like entertainment than work (though I think that walking on super high heels day by day is already a drudgery).
That day (with a little delay though) I decided to wear my maxi skirt pretending like I was special)))
That day I saw several shows: Biryukov, Xavier Brisoux, Inshade, Lena Vasilyeva.
Today my review will be extremely short and very soon you’ll understand why. First was Biryukov and I must say that my review of this brand ended right the same minute when I saw some models and took away my camera (I didn’t make even one shot). I think that further comments are unnecessary. May be I didn’t understand something about that divine minimalism but hey! That screams BORING!
The second show was Xavier Brisoux that definitely has some powerful patrons because I can’t find another explanation for choosing him as a participant of AFW. His collection seemed to me absolutely washy, models with bare buttocks(they put cardigans on them trying to make them look like dresses) caused a slight irritation, and in the end I can’t find any piece from this collection that I would wear.
After was a show by Inshade that I liked a little bit more. At last I saw more or less creative way of styling the show – the hairstyles were quite nice, make up was fun and the models had adorable painted bare feet. One thing that was making me shudder – I drew a parallel between the styling and music on the show and the film Avatar that I don’t like at all. Though in general the show was quite pleasant to watch. What about the clothes – they had an air of handmade (in a bad way)-minus, but I saw some pieces that I’d like to have in my wardrobe (for example voluminous cardys, transparent dresses and soft leather jackets) – plus. I can’t say that they have very unusual or original design but these pieces look stylish, delicate and even appealing.
In the end we saw the show by Lena Vasilyeva that was the best this day and made me believe that Russian fashion industry isn’t hopeless and our designers can make beautiful pieces with high quality. For my opinion this brand deserves to be presented in boutiques and to find it customers. The collection itself I can call quite mature – because of the cut and color palette, though I saw some pieces that would look great on twenty-something girls. Lena Vasilyeva didn’t invent anything new but she did her work well – I had the desire to watch the show attentively and could imagine some pieces on me. I’d like to note that the designer has a good taste for colors and highlights the key points of collection skillfully – I appreciated the delicate decoration with mink fur on the dress with décolleté back. Another sign of professionalism – the integrity of collection and large number of looks. Another important thing – as it was a fall-winter collection- I can see it in our climate (though she presented some thin chiffon dresses –if you add thick tights and other warm things it can be a great outfit even for a cold weather). My favourites are: mink scarfs, big knitted tippets and the lemon color dress (I want it!).
Here are all my impressions that I got on the shows. Probably they could be more striking and my descriptions could be longer if I thought more about fashion during the evening and less about the cherry beer that I was just dreaming about. I seldom deny myself any pleasures so it wasn’t the exception. Right after the fashion shows I went to some absolutely unglamorous bar with my beloved to see a football match and have a glass of cherry beer. It is very tasty by the way! It’s more like refreshing cherry juice than beer.
See you soon. Stay tuned!
